Christmas Eve Crash in Bournemouth: Two Seriously Injured, Young Girl Rescued

High-Speed Smash on Wallisdown Road

A terrifying Christmas Eve collision in Bournemouth saw a blue Skoda Octavia smash into a double-decker bus at full speed. The crash happened at 8:09 PM on Wallisdown Road near the Mountbatten roundabout, leaving the car badly wrecked with smoke pouring from it and one door hanging off.

Heroic Rescue Saves Young Girl

Quick-thinking passers-by pulled a female passenger from the mangled Skoda before emergency crews arrived. Both the driver and female passenger, both in their 30s, were rushed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, two bus passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Bus Driver Shaken but Unhurt

Dramatic images show the smashed Skoda and the pink number six bus with shattered windows amid scattered glass. Morebus, the bus company, confirmed their driver escaped injury but was visibly shaken. Richard Wade, Morebus general manager, said:

“Our driver was uninjured but understandably shaken and is being supported by our team. We wish all those involved a speedy recovery.”

Police Urge Witnesses to Step Forward

Sergeant Lee Savage of the Roads Policing Team is hunting for witnesses to piece together how the crash unfolded:

“We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision. I urge anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicles’ driving before the collision to contact us.”

Motorists driving around Ringwood Road and Wallisdown Road at the time are urged to check dashcam footage for clues.

Emergency crews closed roads to secure the crash site and launch a full investigation. Dorset Police thanked the public for their patience during the disruption and ask anyone with information or dashcam videos to call 101, quoting incident reference 24/12/2024.
