Police and council chiefs in Croydon have issued a stark warning over a spike in social media hype around the “Red v Blue” trend. The move is aimed at stopping online posts stirring up fear, division, and potential violence among youngsters.

In a joint letter to headteachers and safeguarding teams, Superintendent Luke Dillon and Chris Rowney, head of Croydon’s Violence Reduction Network, revealed they are closely monitoring posts pushing for clashes and gatherings.
“Our approach will be firm, with low tolerance to those who seek to divide our communities or take advantage of these circumstances to cause antisocial behaviour or commit offences,” the statement read.
