Shotguns and Ammo Dug Up in Woodland Near Golf Club
On December 2nd, a tip-off from a member of the public led police to a stash of weapons buried in woodland between Skylark Golf & Country Club and Titchfield Lane. Officers uncovered two shotguns, another firearm, and a haul of ammunition hidden beneath the earth.
Specialist Officers Secure Weapons
Specialist police quickly arrived on the scene and made the firearms safe. The weapons have now been seized and are undergoing forensic examination.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Chief Inspector Jon Turton, Winchester’s District Commander, said: “I want to thank the member of the public who reported this suspicious package. Tips like this are vital to keeping our communities safe.”
“While incidents like this are worrying, the weapons are off the streets and there’s no evidence of any wider threat. It looks like someone was simply trying to hide their criminal activity.”
