Van Smashes Into Stationary Family Car on A406
Emergency services rushed to the A406 at Pinkham Way, N11, after a Citroen Dispatch van crashed into a stationary silver Vauxhall Corsa on Monday night, 30 November, at 8:49pm. The Corsa had been stopped in the slow lane due to a flat tyre, carrying a woman and four children inside.
Four-Year-Old Girl Suffers Serious Head Injury
All passengers from both vehicles were taken to hospital. Tragically, a four-year-old girl from the Corsa suffered a non-life-threatening but potentially life-changing head injury. She remains in hospital receiving treatment. The other occupants, including the van driver, escaped without serious injuries.
Van Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Drink-Driving
The 39-year-old Citroen driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was treated at the hospital as a precaution before being taken to a north London police station and later released under investigation.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dash-Cam Footage
Detective Constable Maciej Mielcarek, Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, said:
“I want to speak to anyone who saw this crash or captured it on dash-cam. A child has been seriously injured, and it’s crucial we understand exactly what happened. Good Samaritans who helped at the scene are also urged to come forward to help piece together the events.”
