£190kg Lion Sculpture Stolen from Sea Walls Exhibition

Between Wednesday night and Thursday evening, a hefty 190kg bronze lion sculpture vanished from the Sea Walls display at the Downs off Circular Road. The statue, firmly secured to the ground with metal pegs, was ripped from its spot without a trace.

Police Hunt Heavy Haulers Behind Daring Theft

Officers suspect a large vehicle and several strong individuals were involved in the bold heist. “Removing a sculpture this heavy isn’t a quick job,” said police sources, urging witnesses to come forward.

Stolen Art Tribute to Born Free Founder

The missing piece is part of the Born Free Forever exhibition, marking the 100th birthday of the charity’s founder, the late Bill Travers MBE. The show features 25 life-size bronze lions and supports the Forever Lions Fund, a cause dedicated to Bill’s memory.
