Drunk Dial Disaster: Man Rings 999 68 Times in 90 Minutes!

Police Tied Up by Boozy Prank Calls

A Newark man wasted precious police time by ringing 999 an incredible 68 times over just an hour and a half in September. Each time, he hung up when officers tried to find out what was wrong. When cops finally arrived, they found him drunk in bed – no emergency at all.

More Bizarre Boozy Calls

  • In Mansfield, a drunk bloke called 999 from his own shed, claiming he didn’t know where he was – and then asked officers for more beer. Later, he said he didn’t even need the police.
  • Meanwhile, police were summoned by a grumpy motorist after a city centre garage refused his fuel voucher.

Chief Inspector Warns: 999 Is Not a Joke

“These calls take away valuable time from our officers who need to attend real-life emergencies or crimes that affect our residents,” said Chief Inspector Christopher Sullivan. “Calling 999 68 times when drunk is unacceptable. It’s a complete waste of resources.”

“As we head into the busy Christmas season, police resources are under huge pressure. Only call 999 if there’s a crime in progress or immediate danger to life.”

Know When to Call 999 or 101

For non-emergency issues, contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101. Remember: 999 is for genuine emergencies only.
