Shirley High Street Shut After Serious Crash – Woman Cut Free by Firefighters
A key road remains shut this morning following a serious collision on Shirley High Street. Police have closed the street in both directions between Howard’s Grove and 1 Road.
Drivers Urged to Avoid Area
Motorists are warned to steer clear and find alternative routes. Four fire crews from St Mary’s and one other station are at the scene, using specialist cutting gear to free a woman trapped inside a vehicle.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Police and South Central Ambulance paramedics are attending the incident, treating the female driver on site.
Crash Near ‘The Cake Lady’ Shop Under Investigation
The smash happened right outside The Cake Lady on Shirley Road. A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police spokesperson said:
“One female was extracted from the vehicle with minor injuries. Part of our investigation is looking into whether excess speed was a factor.”
