Teenager Stabbed to Death in Brighton City Centre
Police are hunting witnesses after a fatal stabbing rocked Brighton city centre on Thursday evening.
Emergency crews rushed to Queens Road at around 5pm following reports of an assault on a teenage boy.
The victim, 17-year-old Mustafa Momand, was taken to hospital but tragically died from his injuries. His grieving family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
Suspect Arrested in Murder Inquiry
After a thorough search, police arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. He is currently being held in custody as detectives dig into what happened.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell said: “This is a tragic incident in which a young man has lost his life. Our thoughts are with Mustafa’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
He added: “A suspect is in custody, and a fast-moving investigation is underway. We’ve increased police presence in the area and are working hard to minimise disruption caused by the Queens Road closure.”
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
DCI Campbell urged anyone who saw the incident or suspicious behaviour around that time to get in touch. He also called for anyone with video footage—from dashcams or phones—to submit it to the inquiry.
