Police arrested a man tonight after he threatened to stab a teenager with a knife in a Scarrots Lane alley, Newport. The drama kicked off just after 4.30pm on Thursday, May 3, inside a packed McDonald’s on Upper St James Street.

Families and youngsters crowded the burger bar when a dispute broke out. According to one diner who wished to remain anonymous, a homeless man and a teenager started arguing inside the fast food restaurant. The teenager then kicked a window before the homeless man followed him outside, sparking chaos.

Knife Pulled Amid Growing Tension

Witnesses say the homeless man pulled a knife as a large group of teenagers gathered outside. Police quickly arrived in force, with multiple vehicles on scene to calm the situation. Officers detained the man, handcuffed him, and took him to Newport Police Station.

Knife Recovered by Police
