Explosion Rocks Local Road: Two Seriously Injured
Emergency services rushed to the scene at 7.57am on Tuesday, 4 May 2021, following reports of a sudden explosion. Two people suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for urgent treatment.
Rescue Efforts Save Trapped Residents
Five more were treated for less severe injuries at a nearby hospital. Rescuers pulled several residents from the rubble after they became trapped during the blast. Thankfully, all residents are now accounted for.
Investigation Underway, No Suspicion of Foul Play
Police are investigating the cause but say the explosion is not currently thought to be suspicious. Utility crews are working on site to secure the area, which may cause brief power outages.
Support Centre Set Up for Evacuees
The Salvation Army has opened a support centre at a local village hall for those evacuated. Authorities advise anyone facing power issues to contact their provider or speak to officers on the ground.
