Teenager Dies After Hit-and-Run Crash in Stalham
Fatal Collision on A149
A tragic crash in Stalham has left a teenage girl dead and another seriously injured. The smash happened just before 4.30pm on Sunday, 31 July, on the A149 between Stepping Stone Lane and Old Market Road.
A silver Lexus SUV slammed into two pedestrians before taking off. The teenage victim, a woman in her late teens, died at the scene. The second pedestrian, a 16-year-old girl, was rushed to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with serious arm injuries. She remains in a critical condition.
Hit-and-Run Driver Caught After Road Sign Crash
The Lexus didn’t stop. It carried on driving along the A149 until it crashed into a road sign near the Tesco supermarket. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at James Paget Hospital in Gorleston.
Police arrested the driver on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is now in custody at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre.
Road Closed, Police Seek Witnesses
The A149 remains closed as emergency crews investigate the scene. Norfolk Police are hunting witnesses, especially anyone with dash cam footage or who saw the Lexus driving recklessly before the crash.
Officers are also keen to speak to a man and woman in a Land Rover Discovery who stopped immediately after the collision.
