Man with Dementia Found Dead After Four-Day Search in Earley

Sidney Box Missing From Silverdale Road

Sidney Box, recently diagnosed with dementia, vanished from Silverdale Road, Earley, at around 8.20pm on Thursday, 5 January. The community and police launched an urgent search over the weekend, scouring nearby areas including Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve.

Tragic Discovery Ends Four-Day Search

On Monday afternoon, 9 January, police announced they believe they have found Sidney’s body in a garden in Earley. Although formal identification hasn’t been completed, next of kin have been informed and are receiving support.

Police Confirm Death Not Suspicious

The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner as investigations continue.

Community and Police Unite in Search Effort

“Our search for Sidney has been ongoing for four days, with volunteers from Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue and the local community assisting,” said Superintendent Andrew Cranidge, LPA Commander for Bracknell & Wokingham. “I’d like to thank everyone who helped. Sidney’s family is extremely grateful.”
