Brent Blaze Victim Named as 36-Year-Old Woman

Police have identified the woman who died in a Brent house fire as 36-year-old Denise Michelle Keane-Barnett-Simmons. The tragic blaze broke out at a home on Alric Avenue, NW10, at 2:15am on Thursday, 16 April.

Firefighters and Emergency Crews Rush to Scene

Officers arrived alongside the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service. Denise was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but was pronounced dead at 6:07am.

Another woman in her 60s also suffered injuries but they are not life-threatening. The fire’s cause is currently being treated as suspicious.

Man Arrested on Suspicion of Arson and Murder

A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of arson and murder. He remains in hospital under police guard. Authorities believe the man and Denise were known to each other.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John said: “Our investigation is progressing well but we still remain keen to speak to anyone who heard or saw anything out of the ordinary in the hours before this incident.”

“Please come forward with any information by calling 101 with reference CAD 591/16APR.”

Police have also referred the case to the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards following police contact with the victim shortly before the fire.
