Thieves Snatch Booze and Abuse Staff in Compton Acres Newsagent Raid
Booze Bandits Caught on CCTV
Two men brazenly struck a newsagent in Compton Acres, nicking a bottle of brandy and hiding it inside a coat. Meanwhile, the second culprit grabbed bottled cider from the fridge and shoved it in his hoody. Neither paid a penny.
Aggression Against Staff Sparks Outrage
The pair then stormed off, showing aggression towards shop staff. The newsagent’s manager, speaking anonymously, said the abuse was the worst part of the ordeal.
“It’s been a tough year for everyone. We stayed open through the pandemic so locals could get essentials. To be targeted and shouted at while doing our job is disgusting,” he said.
“The stolen drinks weren’t worth much, but the dreadful behaviour really hit us hard. Thanks to everyone who has shown support since.”
Police Hunt Men After CCTV Appeal
Nottinghamshire Police released CCTV images of the suspects and launched an appeal. Police Sergeant Amy Wilson said:
“Shop theft is totally unacceptable. It hits businesses financially and takes a toll on hard-working staff who’ve been frontline heroes during the pandemic.”
“These men might have hit other local shops earlier that day. We want anyone who saw suspicious activity around 6.20pm on Saturday, 10 April 2021 to get in touch.”
Witnesses urged to call police on 101 with incident number 147 of 11 April 2021 if they recognise the men or have info.
