Knife Attack at Paris Gare du Nord: Six Injured, Attacker Shot
Chaos erupted early at Paris’s busy Gare du Nord train station as a man armed with a homemade bladed weapon launched a brutal attack on six people.
Off-Duty Cops Shoot Attacker
The violent rampage unfolded around 6.43 a.m. local time. The assailant targeted several victims, including a police officer, slashing with a knife-like weapon. Off-duty officers returning from a night shift quickly intervened, shooting the attacker three times in under a minute.
French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed the officer was stabbed in the back but saved by his bulletproof vest. Another victim suffered serious shoulder injuries and was rushed to hospital. The attacker remains in critical condition, “between life and death,” said officials.
Investigation Underway, Station Remains Open
Police swiftly sealed off parts of the station to secure the scene. Despite the drama, trains continued to run as normal at the crucial European transport hub connecting France with the rest of the continent.
The attacker’s motive is still unclear, with authorities launching a full criminal investigation. Interior Minister Darmanin praised the “effective and courageous” police response.
Recent Spike in Terror Incidents in Paris
This stabbing comes just a month after a gunman opened fire on a Kurdish cultural centre in Paris, killing three and injuring three more, raising fresh security concerns across the city.
