Tragic Blaze Claims Life in Southeast London Home

An investigation is underway after a fatal fire ripped through a property in Eltham, Southeast London, on Sunday afternoon. Emergency crews rushed to Reventlow Road just after 4pm where they discovered a man dead inside the burning building.

Firefighters Battle Blaze

Police, paramedics, and four fire engines scrambled to the scene following reports of the fire. Despite their best efforts, a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. London Fire Brigade specialists have joined forces with the Metropolitan Police for a joint inquiry into the cause of the blaze.

Crime Scene Established as Investigation Gets Underway

A crime scene has been sealed off outside the property, with a blue tarpaulin covering the front door. Detectives and forensic officers were spotted entering the building to gather evidence. Both the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police remain tight-lipped but continue an active investigation.

Official Statement from Police

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “At 4.09pm on Sunday, 11 December, police were called to assist the London Fire Brigade at a fire on Reventlow Road, SE9. Sadly, the incident has resulted in the death of one man. Officers are working to inform his next of kin. Emergency services remain at the scene and inquiries are ongoing.”

Residents and passersby are urged to steer clear of the area while investigators work to piece together what sparked the deadly fire.
