Tragedy in East Ham: Child Dies After House Blaze
Detectives have confirmed the heartbreaking death of a child who had been critically ill following a fire in East Ham.
Fire Breaks Out on Napier Road
Emergency crews were scrambled to a house on Napier Road at around 8.32am on Saturday, 13 July, after reports of a fire.
London Fire Brigade, police officers, and London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene. Tragically, one child was found dead inside the property. Another child was rushed to hospital but later died. Two others remain hospitalised, while a sixth family member has been discharged and is under outpatient care.
All Family Members Involved
All six victims are believed to be members of the same family living at the Napier Road address. Police are continuing inquiries to identify and notify other family members, supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Burks said: “It is our incredibly sad duty to report that a third child died in hospital yesterday, Monday 15 July. This news will cause further distress to an already devastated community.
“Our thoughts are with everyone affected. We will continue working with London Fire Brigade, the local authority, and partners to support the family and provide answers.”
Investigation Underway, No Suspicion Yet
Police and fire investigators are looking into the blaze’s cause. At this early stage, there is no indication of suspicious circumstances. The investigation remains ongoing.
