Tragic Fatal Crash on A27 Near Wilmington
Sussex Police have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses and dash-cam footage following a deadly smash on the A27 near Wilmington late on 30 September.
Deadly Collision at Drusillas Roundabout
Emergency crews were called just before 11pm after reports of a serious crash between Drusillas Roundabout and Polegate.
An 18-year-old man driving a red Renault Clio collided with another car, driven by a 26-year-old eastbourne/" title="Eastbourne" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Eastbourne man.
Despite desperate efforts from paramedics and officers, the 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving specialist support. The other driver suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.
Police Hunt for Witnesses and Dash-Cam Footage
Road closures were in place overnight as collision experts examined the crash site. Sussex Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is working to piece together what happened.
Officers are urging anyone who saw the vehicles before the crash or has dash-cam footage from around 11pm to come forward. “Even small details could be crucial,” they said.
