M20 Shutdown: Kent Motorway Closed Amid Welfare Concern
The M20 motorway in Kent was slammed shut in both directions during this morning’s rush hour. The closure came after serious concerns for a person’s welfare near junctions 2 and 3.
Early Morning Drama Near M26 Interchange
Just before 6:30 am, police and National Highways officers swooped in, closing the motorway between junction 2 and 3 by the M26 interchange. Both carriageways were sealed off as emergency crews tackled the situation swiftly.
Person Safely Handed to Health Professionals
After quick intervention, the individual involved was safely transferred into the care of health professionals. Traffic has since been restored, with the motorway fully reopened.
Kent Police Speak Out
Kent Police was called at 6.29am on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, over concerns for the welfare of a person near the M20 between junctions 2 and 3. Patrols and highways officers attended the scene, closing both carriageways while they responded to the incident. The person is now in the care of health professionals and the carriageways have reopened,” a Kent Police spokesperson confirmed.
