Gunshots Spark Hove Drama: Man Arrested as Police Hunt Ends Calmly
Shots Fired in Hove Street
Armed officers raced to First Avenue, Hove, after reports of gunshots just before 9.30pm on Sunday night (19 September).
The road was swiftly sealed off as police launched a high-tech search, calling in the NPAS police helicopter to scour the area from above.
Suspect Nabbed on Firearm Charges
A man was promptly arrested for possession of a firearm in a public place and for possessing a gun with intent to cause fear and alarm. He remains in police custody as the probe continues.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Police Assure Public: No Wider Threat
Chief Superintendent Justin Burtenshaw said: “This is a fast moving investigation and I want to reassure the public that there is no threat to the wider community. This is not terrorist-related.
We will continue to have a number of officers in the area while we continue our enquiries and I would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding.”
