Gunbattle Erupts at Crack of Dawn

A terrifying gunfight broke out just after 3am on Sunday morning near the Brixton O2 Academy, sending shockwaves through the area. Stockwell Road and Benedict Road remain closed both ways following the chaos.

Armed officers from the Metropolitan Police and paramedics rushed to the scene after reports of a man being shot near the junction of Benedict and Stockwell Roads.

Crime Scene Paints Grim Picture

Trident unit detectives are leading the investigation. A large crime scene cordon is in place, with dozens of 6mm bullet casings scattered across the road, carefully bagged by officers as evidence.

Police discovered a black Mercedes with window damage inside the scene, while a white BMW, riddled with bullet holes and shattered windows, was found abandoned mid-Stockwell Road. The BMW driver reportedly escaped several shots after fleeing the initial shootout.

No Arrests Yet, Manhunt Underway

So far, nobody has been arrested. Police are combing through CCTV footage from surrounding housing blocks in a desperate bid to identify and track down the gunman.

The violent incident has slammed multiple bus routes including 2, 196, 322, 333, 345, and N2. Additional road closures are in place at Rumsey Road junction, likely to stay for hours as the investigation unfolds.

Brixton residents are urged to avoid the area as police hunt the shooter and piece together what sparked this terrifying early morning shootout.
