Police Seal Off Isle of Wight Home After Pensioners Found Dead
Residents on Albert Road, Isle of Wight, were left shocked this morning after police sealed off a property under a white forensic tent following the discovery of two bodies. The elderly couple had lived at the home for over 15 years. Officers launched an investigation after the pair were found dead in unexplained circumstances.
Police Cordons and Resident Checks
Emergency services were called to the street just after 7am on Monday, 20 June. Neighbours must now provide ID to police to access Albert Road, which remains cordoned off as forensic teams scour the scene. A police photographer and investigators worked throughout the morning gathering evidence.
Neighbours Describe ‘Lovely’ Couple in Poor Health
A neighbour revealed one of the pensioners was known to be seriously ill for some time. She said, “They were in a pretty bad way. It’s very sad – they were a really nice couple. When my grandchildren came to stay, the woman used to give the kids sweets when they walked past.”
Police Confirm No Suspicious Activity, Investigation Ongoing
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed the bodies were of a 77-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman found at the Albert Road address. No other suspects are being sought in connection with their deaths.
The cause of death has yet to be determined. Detectives and forensic officers continue to investigate the full circumstances, but police say it appears to be an isolated incident. The cordon is expected to remain in place throughout the day.
