Brave Victim Escapes Attempted Rape at Winson Green Metro
British Transport Police (BTP) are urgently hunting a man caught on CCTV after a shocking attempted rape at Winson Green Metro station. The terrifying attack happened on October 10th, around 2pm, when the victim was followed and assaulted on the tram stairway.
Attack Interrupted by Quick-Thinking Victim
The attacker pushed the woman to the floor and tried to rape her. She screamed for help, and the arrival of the next tram forced the attacker to flee. Showing incredible bravery, the victim left the station and flagged down a woman in a nearby street for help. Police are now appealing for this good Samaritan to come forward and assist with the investigation.
Injured Victim and Urgent Police Appeal
The victim suffered a knee injury requiring hospital treatment. Detective Inspector Ray Ascott called the attack “shocking and incredibly brazen.” Police have released CCTV images of a man they believe holds vital information and urge the public to come forward.

“I would urge anyone who recognises the man in the images to get in touch with us as soon as possible, as we believe he may be able to assist with our enquiries,” said Detective Inspector Ascott.
The BTP promises extra patrols in Winson Green to reassure local residents while the hunt continues.
