Armed Police Swarm Chingford Street in Dramatic Raid
Residents were left stunned as armed police stormed a semi-detached house on Pretoria Crescent in Chingford last Wednesday evening. The quiet street was thrown into lockdown after reports surfaced of a man threatening someone with a weapon.
One Man Arrested After Intense Stand-off
Pictures from the scene show officers surrounding the property and conducting a thorough search. Armed police made a swift arrest, taking one man into custody on suspicion of possession of a firearm—a crossbow.
“There were a lot of them. It’s not something you really expect,” said one shaken local who asked to remain anonymous. “Pretty scary.”
Swords and Crossbow Discovered During Search
Following the search, officers uncovered swords and a crossbow inside the property. The man remains held as investigations continue.
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed: “Police were called to Pretoria Crescent, E4, on Wednesday, 26 February, shortly after 10pm following reports of a man in possession of a firearm.
“Officers attended and arrested a man on suspicion of possession of a firearm (crossbow). He is currently in custody. Enquiries continue.”
