Drama at Dawn: Two Spotted in Sea Near Brighton Palace Pier

Brighton’s early morning peace was shattered when two people were seen struggling in the sea west of Brighton Palace Pier. The call-out sparked a rapid response from Brighton RNLI volunteers and emergency services.

Swift Rescue in Chilly Waters

At 5.40am, Brighton Lifeboat Station volunteers launched after reports of two individuals in distress. One had already been rescued, while the other was heard screaming for help.

Police arrived on the scene quickly, and miraculously, the second person managed to scramble out of the water just moments before the lifeboat reached the spot. The lifeboat was stood down at 5.42am—just two minutes after launching.

“A quick response from all emergency services and a powerful reminder that even in shallow water, things can go wrong fast,” said a Brighton RNLI spokesperson.

No injuries have been reported, but this early morning drama is a stark warning about the hidden dangers of the sea—even when the waters look calm.
