A mysterious “mayday” message sent via a Private Mobile Radio set off alarm bells in Portsmouth on Friday night. Rescue teams sprang into action after the distress signal was reported from Kingston.
Full-Scale Search Launched Across Portsmouth Harbour
Rescue officers quickly interviewed the person who first reported the alert. This led to a full-scale search involving:

- Two lifeboats from Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service

False Alarm as Search Suspended Early Saturday
