A senior Metropolitan Police firearms inspector has been arrested on suspicion of rape, in an incident said to have unfolded in front of colleagues at a firearms training base in Gravesend, Kent. The arrest has rocked the specialist unit to its core.
Decade-Long Abuse Alleged
The inspector, close to retirement, is accused of offences spanning a ten-year period from 2013 to 2023. He has been suspended from duty and bailed until September pending further investigation.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed:
“A serving Met officer has been arrested on suspicion of rape and other offences. The inspector was arrested on Monday, 24 June. He was bailed to return in mid-September and suspended from duty pending further enquiries.”
The Metropolitan Police have referred the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). An IOPC spokesperson said:
“Following receipt of the mandatory conduct referral, we concluded that the Met should continue with its investigation, as the officer has already been arrested and interviewed.”
