Itchen Bridge Shut After Woman Threatens Suicide
Itchen Bridge was locked down tonight after a woman threatened to jump off. Police sealed the bridge both ways just before 9pm following reports of the high-risk incident.

The woman was spotted over the parapit, prompting immediate action. Officers rushed to the scene and engaged in talks to convince her to step back.

A police spokeswoman confirmed: “We are dealing with an incident on the Itchen Bridge and have sent a number of specialist officers to the scene.”
Woman Talked Down and Treated
At around 10.20pm, emergency services successfully convinced the woman to come down safely. She is now receiving care from South Central Ambulance Service.
