Gun Found on Public Footpath Near Kirkby Golf Club
Police swooped on Kirkby Golf Club after a suspected firearm was found on a public footpath nearby. The weapon and ammunition were discovered on Ingoe Lane around 6pm on Saturday, 15 May.
Forensics Probe Weapon’s Link to Crime
Officers are now carrying out forensic tests to determine if the gun is tied to any past incidents. Detective Inspector John Fitzgerald said:
“Removing this potential weapon will make our streets a much safer place to be. Our enquiries will now continue to find out if it has been used before, and to whom it belongs.”

DI Fitzgerald added:
“We’re absolutely committed to tackling serious organised crime, including gun crime. We have dedicated significant resources to removing weapons and offenders from our streets. Information from communities makes a big difference. If you know where dangerous weapons are being stored or used, let us know and we will take positive action.”
