Blaze Destroys Roof of Bethnal Green Flats
Ten fire engines and 80 firefighters raced to tackle a fierce roof fire on Hadleigh Close, Bethnal Green. The blaze gutted the roof of a block of flats, causing chaos in the early hours.
Heroic Firefighters Rescue Four Residents
Station Commander Paul Morgan revealed the harrowing ordeal: “Brigade Control received 25 frantic 999 calls reporting the visible blaze. One caller was trapped inside, unable to escape due to fire, heat, and smoke.
Crews guided the trapped resident with vital fire survival advice before arriving. Two women were rescued from a fourth-floor flat using a 13.5-metre ladder. Another man and woman escaped via an internal staircase. The man was hospitalised as a precaution by London Ambulance Service.
“Two adults and a child fled the flat where the fire started before firefighters arrived. Over 100 residents self-evacuated,” added Station Commander Morgan.

The fire broke out at 3.28am and was under control by 5.39am. Fire crews from Bethnal Green, Whitechapel, Shadwell, Shoreditch, Dowgate, Homerton, Soho, Islington, and Stratford battled the inferno.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the devastating fire is currently being investigated by the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
