Motorcyclist Dies After Hit-and-Run in Redbridge – Police Hunting Driver

A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a shocking hit-and-run on Hainault Road, Redbridge, last Friday night.

Tragic Crash on Hainault Road

Police were called at around 9.20pm on 17 December 2021 following a collision involving a motorcyclist, Saleem Ahmed, and an Audi TT. London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene, but Saleem was pronounced dead at once.

Driver Flees – One Arrest Made

The Audi TT driver fled the scene on foot, sparking a frantic police search. Authorities have since made one arrest linked to the incident. Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are leading the probe.

Family Plea and Police Appeal

“It is extremely hard to put into words the effect of losing Saleem has had on our family,” said Saleem’s mother, Nadia. “We are struggling to process his death, especially in these circumstances. I would ask anyone who has information about the incident personally, please speak to the police. Please do the right thing, for Saleem and our family.”

Detective Sergeant Eddie Coleman added: “This is an incredibly tragic incident that has left a family devastated. The driver made off from the scene. If anyone has any information, please come forward.”

“We urge anyone near the A12 junction with Hainault Road at 9.20pm on 17 December, especially those with dash cam footage, to contact us.”
