Beloved Essex Road Flower Stall Owner Stabbed to Death

Tragedy struck Essex Road, N1 on Saturday evening as Tony Eastlake, 55, was fatally stabbed. Police were called at 5.27pm after reports of an injured man. Despite first aid from London Ambulance Service and officers, Tony was pronounced dead at the scene.

Community Mourns Kind-Hearted Local

Tony Eastlake was a familiar and friendly face on Essex Road, running his flower stall for nearly four decades. His family said:

“Our hearts are broken forever at the loss of such a very special man. A man who was loved by everybody in the Islington community, remembered as kind, caring and always laughing. Most importantly, a devoted father leaving behind Lisa, Pauline, and his beloved daughter Paige.”

“Tony worked on the flower stall since he was 14, come rain or shine, always smiling. Hundreds have already sent messages of support. We beg anyone with information to come forward so we can get justice for Tony and our family.”

Murder Probe Underway – Police Hunt Witnesses

The Met’s Specialist Crime Command has launched a murder investigation. Witnesses reported seeing Tony in an altercation before the stabbing.

Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Tunstall said:

“Tony was a well-known and respected figure in the community, owning the flower stall for 39 years. Our dedicated team is working around the clock to find those responsible.”

“We want to hear from anyone in Halliford Road or Ecclesbourne Road between 5.20pm and 5.25pm who saw Tony, witnessed the confrontation, or saw anyone running away.”

“Residents, delivery drivers, and anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area are urged to come forward immediately.”

“We are exploring several possible motives and keep an open mind about why Tony was targeted. All information will be treated confidentially.”
