Tragic Stabbing Near Brixton Tube Leaves Young Man Dead
Shane’s family is being supported by specialist officers as police probe the deadly stabbing near Brixton Underground Station. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation.
Police Called After Brutal Assault on Busy Brixton Road
Officers were alerted at 8:18pm on Wednesday, 21 July, following reports of an assault close to the Brixton Tube station. On arrival, they found Shane with a stab wound and immediately gave first aid.
London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Shane was sadly pronounced dead at 8:45pm.
Witnesses Urged to Come Forward as Man Arrested and Released
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm but has since been released without further action. A crime scene remains, with enquiries ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn said: “Brixton Road near the tube station is a busy area, with many people on the street, buses and in cars last night. We have spoken to several witnesses already, but I urge anyone who saw anything or has footage—phone or dashcam—to get in touch.”
