Devoted Dad Killed in Horror A120 Motorbike Crash
The family of Gavin, 42, have been left shattered after he was killed instantly in a motorcycle collision on the A120 on Wednesday, April 16. The “larger-than-life” dad-of-four and fiancé died at the scene, leaving a heartbroken partner, four children, and a devastated community in mourning.
Family Pays Emotional Tribute
Gavin was a beloved son, brother, friend, and partner described as kind-hearted with a wicked sense of humour. His partner Mel and their children — Ella, Bethany, Henry, and Leo — now face life without their rock.
“It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we share the devastating news of Gavin’s sudden passing,” the family said. “He was tragically taken from us in a motorcycle accident, and the void he’s left is unimaginable.”
Passions and Pride
Living in Earls Colne, Gavin was a proud lorry driver for Woodlands Logistics — his dream job since childhood. Known for leaving the house singing each morning, he filled every room with positivity and warmth.
“He adored his children, cheered them on at football matches, loved school parents’ evenings, and was deeply proud of everything they achieved,” Mel revealed.
Outside work, Gavin loved motorbikes, classic British comedy Only Fools and Horses, treasure-hunting in shops like Cash Converters and CEX with his twin boys, and was a passionate Arsenal fan. Family days out were his happiest moments.
“He was more than a father, more than a fiancé — he was our everything,” said Mel. “Now I find myself a single mum of four, grieving for Gavin and the future we were building.”
Fundraiser Launched to Support Family
A GoFundMe page has been set up with Mel’s blessing to help cover funeral costs, daily expenses, and give her time to grieve without financial pressure. The family is appealing for donations, shares, and messages of support.
“No family should have to go through something like this alone. Your love, kindness and generosity will help us begin to heal and honour Gavin’s beautiful life,” the family said.
