Wiltshire Police have swooped on two men after a tip-off about knives in public. The arrest comes following a quick response to a concerned member of the public.
Knives and Drugs in Buckhurst Field
At 3.20pm yesterday, police were alerted to two men spotted carrying knives in Buckhurst Field, Walcot. Officers rushed to the scene and arrested two 19-year-olds on suspicion of possession of bladed articles.
But that wasn’t all. The suspects also face allegations of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, plus possession of class B and C substances.
Community Praise and Police Action
Local Policing Tasking Team Sgt Nathan Martin thanked the vigilant public for their crucial tip-off.
“It is thanks to this kind of information that we are able to target those individuals who are carrying knives and swiftly take action against them,” Sgt Martin said.
“There is no place for knives or any kind of bladed weapons on our streets and we are determined to ensure that Swindon is a safe place for everyone.”
He added officers will boost patrols in the area as investigations continue.
Ongoing Investigation
The arrested men remain in custody as police dig deeper into the case. Wiltshire Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
