Speeding and Drug Busts Rock Folkestone in Police Blitz
Kent Police cracked down hard in a one-day operation on Tuesday 17 October 2023. The Road Safety Unit teamed up with the Proactive Target Team, local cops, DVSA, and HMRC for a blitz on the county’s worst traffic offenders and crime suspects.
Speeds Hit 67mph in 30mph Zone
Marked and unmarked patrols, including a police motorbike and a speed camera van, hit the streets. The van caught 40 vehicles tearing down Dover Road over the 30mph limit. The worst? A motorbike blasting at 67mph.
Drug Dealing and Burglary Suspects Nabbed
During the operation, officers clocked suspected drug deals on Lower Sandgate Road. Two suspects were stopped and searched. Cops found around 100 wraps of suspected Class A drugs. A 56-year-old Dover man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Meanwhile, a 39-year-old Folkestone man, wanted over a burglary from 14 October, was also arrested on the spot. Both suspects have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
