Call Leads Cops to Lewisham Garage Sting
On 28 October, cops got a tip-off from a member of the public about two men dismantling motorbikes in a Lewisham garage. They rushed to the scene and found not one, but two stolen bikes – one from Greater Manchester and the other, the very bike stolen from Wapping.
Two Men Arrested, One Bike Returned
The Greater Manchester bike was swiftly returned to its owner. Meanwhile, the suspects – a late 20s man and another in his early 30s – were arrested on suspicion of theft and taken to a local police station. Both have since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Inspector James Beattie, Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “This was a great result. A quick response from officers caught these two men red-handed dismantling a stolen motorbike.”
“We’re working around the clock to crack down on motorcycle theft. We urge all bikers to beef up their vehicle security and report any thefts. It helps us spot patterns and score wins like this – arresting suspects and recovering stolen bikes.”
