Elderly Woman Targeted in Chesterfield Distraction Burglary
Derbyshire Constabulary is urgently hunting two suspects after a savvy distraction burglary in Chesterfield saw a large sum of cash stolen from an elderly woman’s home.
Sham ‘Cash Advance’ Trick Leads to Theft
On January 16, 2024, at around 4pm, a middle-aged man returned to the victim’s house with a younger accomplice. Claiming they needed more cash for building materials, the older man followed the woman as she fetched money from a safe. In a swift move, he grabbed a cash box stuffed with notes and dashed out with the younger man.
The pair made their escape in a car parked on Coniston Road after the victim’s failed attempt to chase them down.
