Fake Cops on the Prowl in East London – Residents Warned!
Police are hunting two men caught on camera pretending to be officers in Barking, east London. The incident unfolded on the evening of Tuesday, 12 October, at The Shaftesburys residential block.
Fake Officers Bamboozle Woman with Shoddy Uniform
A woman reported that two men, dressed in crude police gear—caps, harnesses, and batons (‘asps’)—turned up claiming they needed to search her home. They were initially let in but raised suspicions when they failed to produce any ID.
“When asked for identification, they couldn’t show any and swiftly made their exit,” police said.
Suspects Flee and Vanish Down Abbey Road
The pair were followed but disappeared heading towards Abbey Road. Officers launched a search but came up empty-handed. Thankfully, nothing was stolen and no one was hurt.
Police Appeal for Info on Two Men
Detectives want to speak to the suspects caught on video. No arrests have been made yet. Anyone with details should call 101 quoting CAD 6640/12 Oct, or give info anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
