Coastguard Rescue Helicopter scrambled to Life saving Mission On the Island of Guernsey

A Costguard search and Rescue Helicopter has this evening carried out a life saving medical evacuation from the Island of Guernsey. The twin engine helicopter (Rescue 175 ) based at Lee on the Solent was scrambled just after 6pm on Saturday evening. The four crew were tasked to transfer a serious ill person from the Channel Island to Southampton General Hospital. It is understood that the transfer took place just after 7.15pm from Guernsey Hospital to the General. A coastguard search and rescue team is understood to have met the aircraft at the Lordshill landing site just after 8.30pm and assisted with the shirt transfer to an awaiting ambulance. The incident was over seen by staff from the UK coastguard based at Fareham.
