After a robber stole a 66-year-old woman’s handbag as she walked down an alleyway, police released an image of a man they want to find. The incident occurred around 2.15pm on January 2 in Forest Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield. A stranger followed the victim as she walked home from Skegby Mini Market. The suspect grabbed the victim’s bag from her shoulders as she turned into the alleyway alongside Beechwood Court. He then ran away from the scene, heading for Beechwood Close. “This is an extremely serious incident, and it is imperative that we catch the suspect for this robbery,” said Detective Constable Lisa Shields, who is investigating the incident. “We believe that the suspect has followed his victim and then forcefully snatched her bag in an alleyway when he is out of plain sight and there were no witnesses around. “The incident clearly left the victim extremely shaken. “We have carried out a thorough investigation to find the person responsible and are calling on the public’s help. “We have released some images of a man we wish to trace who could help us with our inquiries. If you know the man in the photos or if you are the man in the photos, please contact us right away.” Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and reference incident number 0337 of January 2, 2023, or Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
