Late-Night Blaze at Pinden Recycling Centre Draws Over 20 Firefighters

More than 20 firefighters were called to tackle a significant fire at the Pinden Recycling Centre in Longfield, near Dartford, on Sunday night. The alarm was raised at 11:19 PM after flames were spotted at the site located off the B260 Green Street Green Road.

Rapid Response from Fire Crews

In response to the emergency, six fire engines and a bulk water carrier were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus worked swiftly to bring the fire under control, using hose reel jets and main jets to extinguish the flames. The Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that their crews successfully dampened down any remaining hotspots.

A spokesperson for the fire service stated, “Crews will revisit the site in the early hours of tomorrow morning (August 26) to ensure it remains safe.”

No Injuries Reported

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and officials have yet to determine what ignited the flames at the recycling centre.

Ongoing Monitoring

While the immediate threat has been managed, fire crews will continue to monitor the site to ensure that no flare-ups occur during the night. The Kent Fire and Rescue Service remains on alert to handle any developments at the site.

Residents and local businesses in the Longfield area are advised to remain vigilant as the situation is assessed further. Authorities have not yet released any information regarding potential disruptions to recycling services at the Pinden facility as a result of the fire.
