Police execute Warrant On Scum Bag Bike Thieves in Portsmouth

Police executed a warrant in Southsea today (Thursday, January 5) and recovered two bikes, which are both believed to be stolen One of the bikes has been identified and returned to the owner and we’re trying to find the owner of the second bike – if it’s yours, we’d like to hear from you. The warrant was part of Operation Cludeo, the Neighbourhood Policing Team’s ongoing work to tackle cycle crime in the city, following community intelligence. Officers would like to thank the public for their assistance and encourage people to call us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers if they have any information. A 22-year-old man from Southsea has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a pedal cycle and conspire to steal from another. An 18-year-old woman from Southsea has been arrested on suspicion of conspire to steal from another, criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and handle stolen goods. They remain in custody at this time. Sergeant Richard Holland said: “We continue to work hard to identify people responsible for cycle theft in Portsmouth. The public can help us to tackle the problem by reporting suspicious activity and by using a quality D lock to secure their bike. “I would also advise people to be mindful when buying second-hand bikes, as we will always return bikes and other items identified as stolen to their rightful owners, even if they are bought in good faith.”
