The Rutherglen Supermarket on Dalmarnock Road was closed on Saturday while police investigated the incident.
A 25-year-old woman was taken to the hospital, and a 34-year-old man was arrested.
According to witnesses, the store was evacuated and employees gathered in the parking lot while multiple police cars and an ambulance arrived.
Police tape was placed across the entrance to the shop, and social media posts indicated that staff had activated the store’s fire alarm in order to get customers out quickly.
Officers were called to a serious assault at a premises on Dalmarnock Road, Rutherglen at around 1.30pm on Saturday, 9 July 2022,” a Police Scotland spokesman said.
A woman, 25, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. In connection with this, a 34-year-old man has been arrested.”
