Man Charged with Murder After Wembley Stabbing Tragedy
A 72-year-old man is facing murder charges following a shocking stabbing incident in Wembley.
Derek Brown in Court Over Fatal Attack
Derek Brown, of Cromwell Road, Wembley, appeared in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 23 March. He is charged with murder, section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Brown has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 26 March.
Victim Dies After Stabbing on Cromwell Road
The charges relate to a stabbing that took place on 21 March at around midday. Police were called to reports of an attack on Cromwell Road, Wembley.
Tragically, Richard Brathwaite, 72, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
A post-mortem on 23 March confirmed the cause of death was a stab wound.
Another Woman Injured But Condition Not Life-Threatening
During the incident, a woman in her 70s also sustained injuries. Thankfully, her condition is not life-threatening.
The Metropolitan Police are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward to help.
