Man dies following disturbance in East Malling

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are continuing their investigation into the death of a man following a disturbance at an address in East Malling. Kent Police was called at 6.54pm on Monday 25 June 2018 to a property in Larkspur Close, where it was reported two people known to each other were involved in an altercation.  Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and a man aged in his 20s was taken to hospital, where he later died. A man aged in his 40s and from the East Malling area was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident. He was later bailed to return to a police station on 17 July. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of death and a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Thursday 28 June. A voluntary referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), in relation to Kent Police’s response to the incident.
