Woman Dies following Fatal Lorry Collision on A31 in the New Forest
A woman in her 70’s from the Dorset Area has sadly died this morning following a fatal collision with a Large Goods Vehicle on the A31 near Burley in the New Forest. Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident just after 8am this morning. A Rapid response Paramedic and an air ambulance doctor from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air ambulance attempted to carry out life saving treatment on the woman on the side of the busy A31. A 72 year woman was taken to Southampton General hospital but sadly later died from her injuries. The driver of the lorry has been questioned by Police at the scene but has not arrested. The eastbound carriageway was closed to allow an investigation to take place between the A338 at Ringwood up to Stoney Cross. Traffic that was caught between the diversion that was set up and the collision itself was released eastbound on one lane that was temporarily opened. The road has now fully re-opened. https:///youtu.be/JKUFNhBpI80 A spokesperson for Highways England said: “Eastbound traffic is advised to leave the A31 at the Ringwood junction and take the A338 northbound towards Salisbury. Motorists should then take the A36 southbound to join the M27 at J2.
