Gunman’s Murder Attempt Foiled by Jammed Gun
A furious gunman in Leeds tried to kill a man by holding a gun to his head and pulling the trigger – but the weapon jammed at the last second, saving the victim’s life. Patson Mafuane, 23, from Woodhouse, Leeds, has now been jailed for 27 years after being found guilty of attempted murder.
Gun Attack on Burley Road
The shocking attack happened on July 25 last year. Mafuane pulled out a deadly firearm during an altercation on Burley Road and fired it at his victim’s head. Miraculously, the gun jammed right when it mattered most, allowing the man to escape with his life.
27 Years Behind Bars for Attempted Murder
Mafuane was convicted of:
- Attempted murder
- Possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life
The Leeds Crown Court sentenced him to 27 years in prison, ensuring he’ll be off the streets for decades.
Police Warn on Gun Crime
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:
“This was an extremely serious and reckless act that could have resulted in a tragic loss of life. The victim was incredibly fortunate to survive this attack, and we welcome the lengthy sentence handed down by the court.”
