Police investigate Cowes assault

Fountains Yard in Cowes was taped off by officers following an assault in Cowes on Wednesday evening. Police erected tape whilst an investigation was probed following what is understood to be an assault on a 75 year old man who was taken to St Marys hospitial with a head injury. Police removed the cordon in the early hours of Thursday morning. There inquiries are on going. Officers advised the public of the closure via twitter. Southern Vectis buses and vehicles accessing the Red Jet were effected by the closure. ROAD CLOSURE – please note that the road leading into Fountain Quay, Cowes – (@RedFunnel Red Jet terminal) is currently closed. Pedestrians are not affected. Red Jets not affected. Allow extra time. Pls respect the police cordon at all times Police have confirmed that Officers were called to St Mary’s Hospital at 1:37am where the man was being treated. His injuries are not described as serious. The spokesman for Hampshire And Isle of Wight Police said there investigation was on going. More to Follow
