Teen Cyclist Injured in Crash on Adelaide Avenue, Brockley – Road Closed for Several Hours – UKNIP

 

A teenage cyclist has been taken to hospital following a serious road traffic collision on Adelaide Avenue in Brockley on Thursday afternoon (April 17).

Emergency services were called to the junction of Montague Avenue and Chalsey Road shortly before 1pm, following reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a car.


Emergency Response

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed:

On Thursday, 17 April at 13:02hrs, police were called to Adelaide Avenue, Brockley, following reports of a collision between a cyclist and a car.
Officers attended the scene and assisted with road closures while the London Ambulance Service treated the cyclist, who was then taken to hospital.
We await an update on their condition. Enquiries are ongoing.”


Ambulance Statement

The London Ambulance Service also issued a statement:

“We were called at 12.56pm to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Montague Avenue and Chalsey Road.
We sent ambulance crews, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic.
A teenager was treated at the scene and then taken to a major trauma centre in London.”


Road Closures and Bus Diversions

Adelaide Avenue was closed in both directions between Brockley Road and St Cyprian’s Path for several hours, causing significant traffic disruption. Bus routes P4 and 122 were diverted:

  • P4 buses diverted via Brockley Road, Wickham Road, Lewisham Way, and Loampit Hill.
  • 122 buses rerouted via Stanstead Road, Catford Road, and Lewisham High Street.

Road Reopened

The road was reopened by early evening, and t the incident concluded at 6:21pm.

Residents and drivers are thanked for their patience while emergency services dealt with the situation.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is urged to contact Metropolitan Police via 101, quoting the incident location and time.
